Kitchen Organisation Tips That You Will Use Forever

Given its place at the heart of the home and it containing more equipment than any other room, it is extremely easy for kitchens to become incredibly cluttered. It’s easy to stock up several versions of the same pan or having all sorts of gadgets around that someone’s given but you’re never going to use. Here are some great pointers on how to turn your kitchen into a much more comfortable and organised space.

If you haven’t used it in a year – get rid of it

This is the simplest tip. Walk around your kitchen and look in all the draws and cupboards at everything you have for food preparation or service. If you’ve got anything in those spaces that you haven’t used at all in the past 12 months then get rid of it. Everyone will have gifts or random bits of clutter lying around so getting these out of your kitchen will dramatically increase the space available to store the items that you actually use.

Store sets together

Another fairly easy one. If you’ve bought things in sets then it’s very likely that they’re supposed to stay together and not be spread throughout the kitchen. If you can gather everything that is supposed to be together, together, it will be far easier to find a place for everything given the ability to easily place large quantities of ‘stuff’ in well organised groups.

Freeze foods and label them

If you know you’re going to be busy during the week then it makes sense to have a bit of a cooking marathon on the weekend before and freeze the meals for easy access during the week. You can easily make 4 or 5 dishes on a Sunday evening to put into the freezer and heat up during the week for simple dinners with minimal fuss.

Use the walls

There are so many brilliant storage options that you can hang onto your kitchen walls without causing damage to them if you plan for just a simple screw or two. This can save huge amounts of cupboard space and gives the kitchen an extremely homely feel whilst also looking professional.

Cupboard doors

In the same vein as the use of the walls, the backs of cupboard doors are also spaces available for the hanging of devices to store things, increasing the amount of items you can store in any space.

How To Clean The Range Hood Filter

Photo: Build.com

The range hood does wonders when it comes to helping you maintain a healthy home. It’s purpose is to draw up all of the smoke, fumes, grease, and odors that are normally produced every time we cook. It then exhausts all of that stuff to the outdoors where it can dissipate safely. If those by-products stayed in our homes, the indoor air we breathe would become potentially toxic. The paint and other types of surface materials would also discolor and become damaged over time.

So, other than making sure that you purchase the best range hood that suits your cooking habits and lifestyle, you should also make sure that the range hood filters are cleaned regularly.

Featured Product: Island Range Hoods

nov. 3

So many condo units and detached homes are designed with features like extra tall ceilings and open concept living spaces. The lack of walls lends the space an airy and spacious feeling. Cooking in a kitchen that’s not enclosed makes entertaining so much easier. No longer will you find yourself alone in the kitchen while guests have a good time without you. Better yet, no longer will you be trying to cook in your kitchen while guests crowd in to be with you!

Open concept kitchen design means that more of us have the luxury of cooking at, and sitting around, an island. Some islands feature stoves. That makes entertaining even easier, doesn’t it? You won’t ever need to turn your back on your guests.

But, if you’re going to install a stove in the island, you will need to also install an island range hood. Hung from the ceiling, the island range hood are not only functional. They’re often also a focal point in the kitchen. Look for range hoods that are stylish, unique, and fit well into your home’s decor.

If the kitchen ceiling is extra high, you can still opt for an island range hood. Many of these units come equipped with chimney extensions that reach upwards of 10 feet. If the unit you’ve selected doesn’t have an added extension, you can still purchase one separately.
