Broan Rangemaster RM1000 Wall Mount

Sometimes you just need your range hood to be so much more than a powerful cleaning machine. If you weren’t sure before why we bother to install a range hood in the kitchen, you need to know that the purpose of a range hood is to ensure pristine indoor air quality. It does that by drawing up all the smoke, grease, odor, and fumes that are produced every time we cook. For best results, remember to turn on the range hood fan about 15 minutes before you start cooking, and leave it running for about 15 minutes after you’ve finished cooking.

Beyond it’s ability to keep the air we breathe clean and healthy, a range hood acts as a beautiful focal point. This Broan Rangemaster RM1000 Wall Mount is no exception.

Check out its features:

How To Install A Range Hood

sept. 6

For most of us installing a range hood to the wall or ceiling is a job for the professionals. But there are a few intrepid individuals out there who are more than willing and able to tackle a do-it-yourself job like this one.

If you fall into that DIY camp, here’s my best advice:

Our range hoods come in a variety of sizes, shapes and styles. If you’ve looked through our selection – And if you haven’t, I definitely recommend that you do! – you’ll see that some range hoods mount to the wall while others mount to the ceiling. Which you choose depends entirely on the space available in your kitchen. You also need to consider how the ductwork runs and whether it needs to vent out from the side of your home or up through the ceiling.

As always, I really encourage you to talk with one of our Support Team or hire a general contractor to assess the space before you purchase a range hood. There are so many factors that go into a proper installation, that it’s really important to make sure you have all the information you’ll need from an expert source.

Once you’re armed with all the right information, you’ll find that installing the range hood you’ve chosen is pretty straightforward. For the wall-mount type, the range hood has holes built into it that allow it to be easily fastened to the wall. The island-mounted units are a bit different. They have a chimney skeleton frame that supports the hood. The frame then gets securely bolted to the ceiling. At that point, installing the rest of the hood around it is quick. In either case, it’s best to have two people doing the installation. One person should hold the range hood pieces in place as they’re connected, and the second person can connect the pieces to each other and to the wall or ceiling.

Call our Support Team if you have any other questions. We love hearing from you!

Today, I’d like to introduce you to one of our premier products – range hoods by Cavaliere.

The invention of island range hoods was a kitchen designer’s dream come true. All of a sudden, we no longer were forced to put stoves against walls. We could install a stove or cooktop in the middle of an island and still enjoy proper ventilation. The model below is the SV218Z2.

With under the cabinet range hoods, the ductwork connecting the hood part to the outside must be hidden behind a cabinet. These take up very little space on the wall (because they’re essentially flat). The ductwork hidden behind the cupboard also takes up little room, allowing you more storage space. The model pictured below is the AP238-PS13.

2015 Wall Mounted Range Hoods

Summer is already coming to a close and you’re just now getting to that kitchen remodel you’ve been planning all year. You’ve already picked out the flooring, new kitchen appliances, lighting, and marble counter tops, but you’re still stuck on the perfect range hood to make your kitchen remodel complete. A wall mounted range hood can give your kitchen a level of sophistication that puts it a step above the rest and makes your kitchen more of a luxury spot than another area to clean and maintain.

Range hoods are important for a variety of reasons, such as proper ventilation, air purification, and keeping your kitchen cool. Vented range hoods remove smoke, grease, odors, and bacteria in the air from the kitchen, depositing the polluted air outside of the house.  Range hoods can also aid in preventing your entire house from heating up after a long day of cooking during the summer months. Aside from practical reasons, range hoods can also add an aesthetic element to your kitchen. Particularly, wall mounted range hoods can make even simple kitchens take on an air of sophistication and luxury.

5 Kitchen Remodeling Projects to Tackle this Summer

This guest post is by Stephanie Cernivec in Marketing Communications at WarmlyYours Radiant Heating.

Summer is finally here, and that means entertaining family and friends is in full swing. When you’re hosting a group of people, you want your home to look its best. But what do you do if your house needs some updating? Start with the kitchen.

Family and friends typically gather in the kitchen to eat, drink and share stories. So, if your kitchen needs a little help in reflecting 21st century style, now is the time to get some updates out of the way. We’ve identified five remodeling projects that you can start right now that will completely revolutionize your kitchen. Some projects are simpler than others, but all of them will bring new flair to your kitchen. In the end, your guests will marvel at your new, modern kitchen.

  1. Replace the hardware on your kitchen cabinets.

When your kitchen cabinets are equipped with outdated hardware — or no hardware at all — a quick update can make a world of difference. You can purchase new, modern hardware from your local hardware store, or you can even get some unique pieces from furniture stores like Pier 1 Imports, Pottery Barn and Restoration Hardware.

  1. Paint the cabinets.

Of course, depending on how outdated your cabinets are, new hardware will only go so far. If your cabinets have seen better days, a fresh coat of paint will go a long way. If your cabinet frames and doors are structurally sound, you can use some strong cleaner, sandpaper and paint to bring new life to them, according to a ThisOldHouse.com article. And this time of year, the weather is perfect for an outdoor painting project. Plus, this renovation can be done for a fraction of what it would cost to replace the cabinets with new ones.

Painting the cabinets also offers a great opportunity to liven your kitchen design up with some bright color. According to freshome.com, bold color is one of the top kitchen trends for 2015.

“This year, try painting your cabinets any bold shade (dark or light),” the article states. “These bodacious colors naturally draw the eye in and create a focal point.”

  1. Replace your range hood with a more modern offering.

Another piece that will draw the eye is a modern range hood. In particular, island mount range hoods that feature a curved profile are a modern feature that will bring any kitchen into the 21st century. Adding a stainless steel, contemporary piece to your kitchen will be like mounting a piece of art to your ceiling — but it will be functional too!

  1. Replace your flooring.

If you’ve given the rest of our kitchen a makeover, it only makes sense to update the flooring as well. Your ‘70s or ‘80s tile will look especially out of place with modern cabinets and appliances.

Some of the most popular flooring choices for a kitchen include hardwood, large-format tile, cork, luxury vinyl and concrete, according to experts.

Hardwood is a great option for homes with an open floor plan because you can extend the flooring into other rooms, like the living room. It also never goes out of style, so you can ensure that you’ll get a good return on investment if you ever sell your home, notes John Riha in a HouseLogic.com article. In particular, engineered wood is the best choice for kitchens, he says, because it offers more stability and resistance to temperature changes.

WarmlyYours3

Porcelain tile is a good choice if you want tough, low-maintenance flooring, Riha says. It’s also said to be one of the most popular flooring types this year, according to architect Stephen Alton. Cork flooring is an eco-friendly choice that is waterproof and compressible, making it a comfortable surface for kitchen dwellers. Vinyl flooring is one of the easiest floor coverings to maintain, Riha says. It’s also very affordable and soft on feet. Finally, concrete is an up-and-coming flooring type for living areas and kitchens. Many different effects can be used to give it an industrial yet modern look.

  1. Install in-floor heating.

If you’re replacing the flooring in your kitchen, you should also consider installing radiant floor heating. An electric floor heating system can be installed under nearly any flooring surface and brings comforting warmth to one of the most used rooms in the home when the weather takes a turn for the worse. Summer is a great time to get ready for winter so that when the chill hits, you’re already prepared.

Each of these summer kitchen remodeling tips will ensure that your kitchen is the place to be during the summer and long after.

Range Hood Height Above the Range

Installing a kitchen range hood is crucial for ventilating the air in an enclosed kitchen. Range hood height should also be taken into consideration in the design of the kitchen. First of all, it’s important to make sure the range hood is going to fit in the space. Secondly, the range hood will provide the best ventilation possible if it is installed properly and at the correct height above the range.

“Range hood height” describes the distance between the range (the cooking surface) and the bottom of the range hood. The best way to determine range hood height is to check the manual that comes with the range hood. The manual should include instructions for installation of the range hood as well as the specifications of the range hood.

range hood height customer photo

Cavaliere-Euro SV218F-36 36″ Wall Mount Range Hood

The distance between the range hood and the cooking surface may also differ depending on what type of range hood. Generally, the average range hood height is 26 inches to 36 inches above the cooking surface. Wall mount range hoods are commonly installed 30 inches away from the range, while under cabinet range hoods are installed between 21 inches and 27 inches away from the range. Again, always check the manual for your specific range hood for the exact mounting height you need to install it at or have it installed at.

There are cases in which a homeowner may want to install the range hood farther away from the cooking surface than is recommended. This may be because the homeowner is a tall person and wants to be more comfortable while cooking. You wouldn’t want your head hitting the range hood, would you?

To overcome this, a more powerful range hood can be installed. A higher CFM (cubic feet per minute) rating will help compensate for the greater distance between the range hood and the range. (Remember, CFM describes the power of the range hood and how much air it can move per minute.) The distance has to be compensated for in some way to ensure the ventilation is still the same quality.

range hood height

Kitchen range hoods ventilate the kitchen air of grease, smoke, odors, smells, carbon monoxide and nitrogen dioxide. Without the range hood, grease would build up on the range, the cabinets and the surrounding kitchen décor. Smoke could set off the smoke detector, and odors can make the kitchen an unpleasant place to spend your time. Turning on the kitchen range hood will help diminish these problems. Not to mention, proper ventilation will also making breathing in the kitchen easier! Call Range Hoods Inc at 800-914-9775 for assistance or if you have more questions about range hood height and available range hood models.
